Radha Nagar Beach

Radhanagar Beach: The Jewel of Andaman’s Shorelines

One of the most well-known sights in Havelock Island and the entire Andaman & Nicobar Islands is Radhanagar Beach. Radhanagar, also referred to as Beach No. 7, was named the greatest beach in Asia and the seventh best beach in the world by Time Magazine in 2004. The beach is also listed by Tripadvisor’s Travellers Choice Awards in 2016 as one of the Top 25 beaches in Asia. The beach is lined with numerous huts, benches, and chairs, as well as tall trees, which provide you with a spot to unwind, enjoy the scenery, and unwind with some food and beverages. One of the best aspects of this is that you are permitted to bring food and drink inside the gates, allowing you to relax with friends and family while taking in the scenery and watching the kids play in the sand.

The beach of Radhanagar in Havelock Island

It goes without saying that it is one of the most magnificent beaches you will see when visiting the Andaman Islands. The Radhanagar Beach welcomes tourists into a world of perfect tranquillity and relaxation. It is surrounded on all sides by coconut trees and is bordered on both sides by tropical jungle. One of the island’s most breathtaking views greets you as soon as you pass through the gate and reach the area. A wide-angle view of the ocean accented by soft, white sand that stretches as far as the eye can see instantly improves your mood and makes you feel refreshed. You almost immediately want to take a dive when you see the emerald blue seas with just the right amount of splash and the flawless blue sky blending into the horizon.

Sea and Shore

The two-story cottage in the middle of the beach offers a clear view of the water in front and is an excellent location for taking pictures. One of the few beaches in Andaman with no swimming restrictions is Radhanagar. There isn’t a lot of current and the waves are medium in size. Additionally, the sea’s depth is sufficient and increases gradually, allowing you and your loved ones to spend a lot of time playing in the water. There is no better area in Havelock to take a dip if you enjoy swimming. During operating hours, lifeguards are posted close to the beach and continuously monitor the area so you can easily get help in case of any mishaps. Going too deep into the sea is not recommended for the protection of tourists. Beyond 10 metres, the water currents and waves start to get a little turbulent, making it difficult to swim.

Reach there

The distance between Havelock Jetty and Radhanagar Beach is roughly 12 km. The ideal means of transportation for families and large groups is a chauffeured cab (self-drive automobiles are not available), and for smaller groups, two-wheelers (not during monsoon season). Navigation is simple because the road is straight.

Cycling there is not recommended for the faint of heart because it is around 9 kilometres away from the market. Also, the midsection does not have a lot of cafes or rest places. Public buses and shared jeeps are offered, but only during certain hours. Inquire at the Havelock information centre when you arrive at the jetty. Alternatively, ask at the travel desk of your hotel.
