Elephant Beach: Where Nature’s Beauty and Adventure Converge

Due to its tranquilly, crystal-clear water, and water sports, Elephant Beach is one of Havelock Island’s most well-liked tourist spots. The beach, which is 8.6 km from the jetty, is known as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ water sports mecca. It can only be reached by boat or by hiking through the forest. It is situated in a remote area in northern Swaraj Dweep. The region is pretty captivating on its own. The beach is surrounded on all sides by tall trees and lush vegetation and is sandwiched between two dense tropical jungles. The large beach is matched by white sand.

After a long day of exploration, you may kick back and enjoy the beach’s wooden chairs and seating while munching on a bag of goodies. Children will love playing along the shoreline because of the soft sand and gentle ocean currents.

At the beach, the water is shallow, with a 1-metre depth limit. Since there are no rocks or hard corals in these shallow waters, swimming in them is simple and uncomplicated. When swimming, experienced adults are encouraged to stay within a 10-metre radius, while children should only play in close proximity to the shore while being supervised by an adult.

Elephant Beach in Havelock Island

Elephant Beach boasts one of the island’s largest selections of water sports activities, which is the primary factor in why adventure seekers like the beach.

Medium-sized, choppy waves are ideal for activities like Jet Skiing, Kayaking, speedboat rides, banana and sofa boat rides, and other water sports.

The sea is exceptionally transparent, providing a wide-ranging view of the bottom. No other location at Swaraj Dweep compares to the corals and undersea richness seen here in the deeper waters. The beach is one of the best locations for activities like Sea Walks, Glass Bottom Boats, and Snorkelling thanks to the combination of both hard and soft corals housing colourful fish of various sorts.

Water Sports at Elephant Beach

There are various water sports booths on the beach itself that sell tickets for all of the available activities, so you can get a guide and haggle the pricing of water sports before purchasing tickets. Although reservations are not required, they are accessible online.

There are lifeguards on duty at the beach, and the crocodile population is almost non-existent, so you may spend hours playing in the water without fear. Furthermore, for added safety and privacy, the beach provides suitable changing rooms, lockers and washroom facilities.

Elephant Beach Trek

The Elephant Beach hike begins near Radhanagar Beach and concludes near Elephant Beach. The trekking track follows the deep forest along the shore, which is marked by the guide, who will always walk in front of you. This 2 kilometre trip is popular with adventure seekers who enjoy exploring the tranquil bush while listening to the soothing sounds of birds and crickets. There are guides near the beginning point who charge $200 ($3) for the entire trek.

‍Sea Walk:

Sea Walk is performed in 10 metre deep seas near the Elephant Beach shoreline at specified locations, providing a spectacular view of the undersea life. The corals at these locations are lively, and the fish population is abundant. Furthermore, you will be provided fish food to feed the underwater creatures, causing them to surround you on all sides. The best aspect is that the entire event is filmed and made available to you after the trip. More information on Sea Walk can be found here.

Snorkelling

Elephant Beach is one of the best sites on the island for snorkeling due to the shallow seas that line the shoreline. There are specific areas towards the right side of the beach where the coral population is strong and the water is crystal clear, making it an unforgettable experience. You may simply rent equipment and a guide from the booths on the left side of the beach, close to the gate.

Speed Boats: If you enjoy exploring the ocean and want to see the lagoons surrounding Elephant Beach, Speed Boats are the way to go. The journey begins at the beach and continues through the shoreline and other adjacent small islets, all while you enjoy the splashes of waves on your body. It was a wonderfully refreshing experience. The vendors may be found on the left side of the beach, near the boat parking.

Banana Boats

Banana Boats are ideally suited for families because the seating is designed to ensure that everyone fits nicely. The boat then takes you around the beach into deeper waters, where you may enjoy the cool splashes of water while riding the waves. The wave heights are much higher in the deeper oceans, making it an amazing experience. Elephant Beach has two ticket booths where you can purchase your tickets. They are all located on the beach’s right side. Before you leave, make sure to haggle the price. More information can be found here.

Glass Bottom Boat Ride

Glass bottom boat excursions are ideal for persons who do not know how to swim and dislike getting wet. As the name implies, the boat has a dense glass bottom that allows you to observe corals and creatures living beneath the sea. The boat cruises in the shallow seas near Elephant Beach’s shoreline, focusing on places with high biodiversity. A fun activity to do with friends and family. Tickets can be purchased from the booth on the right side of the beach.

Jet Skiing

Jet skiing is a fast-paced activity that is both pleasurable and exhilarating; when combined with the strong waves of Elephant Beach, it becomes even more thrilling. All Jet Ski tours here include a guide who rides alongside you on the ski for your safety and convenience. You may simply obtain tickets by speaking with the vendors who line the coastline.

Parasailing

Parasailing is one of the most exhilarating activities available on Havelock Island. The activity is exclusively offered at Elephant Beach and is popular among adventure seekers. The voyage leads you to a deeper sea with rough air, where you are hooked to a parachute attached to the boat.

As the boat accelerates, you are lifted around 10-20 metres above the sea, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the beach and surrounding surroundings. Throughout the journey, little dips are produced so that you can touch the sea surface and glide again. Tickets can be purchased at the Coral Safari booth on the beach or online here.
