Hadimba Temple, also known as Dhungiri Temple, is a famous religious site located in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India. Nestled amidst the serene and picturesque hills of the Kullu Valley,This temple was constructed by Raja Bahadur Singh in a distinctive architectural style and holds significant cultural and historical importance. It is dedicated to Goddess Hadimba, who was a character in the Indian epic, the Mahabharata. Hadimba was a demoness and the sister of Hidimba, a demon king. She fell in love with Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, and the temple is said to be built in her honor. It attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists each year.

Location & How to Reach

The temple is nestled amidst dense cedar forests in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. It is located just 2 km away from Joginder Nagar Railway Station. Visitors have the option to either walk or hire a cab to reach the temple conveniently.

Architecture and Design

It is constructed entirely of wood, with intricately carved wooden panels and a three-tiered pagoda-style roof. The temple’s wooden architecture showcases the brilliant craftsmanship of the local artisans.

Religious Significance

The temple is dedicated to Hidimba Devi, who was a character in the Indian epic, the Mahabharata. Hidimba was a demoness and the sister of Hidimba, a demon king. She fell in love with Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, and the temple is said to be built in her honor.
