Heavy rains triggered a landslide on the North Sikkim highway, disrupting travel and forcing the suspension of Lachung tourist permits. The Gangtok-Mangan and Chungthang-Lachung roads are also blocked due to the landslide.

Tourists with Lachung travel plans are advised to postpone their trips until the situation improves. Authorities have halted issuing permits to visit Lachung until further notice to prioritize clearing the roads and ensuring safety.

Cyclone Remal’s harsh weather has caused multiple blockages on the Chungthang-Lachung road, particularly in the Maltin and BOP areas.

Flight disruptions are also possible due to bad weather. Travelers with flights to Pakyong (from Kolkata or Delhi) should check the airline’s website for updates.

Around 100 tourists evacuated from the landslide area have been safely relocated to a Gurudwara.
